In honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we are highlighting employees from our global team who have helped contribute to Apache’s success.
Siew Kheong, Gas Operations General Manager and Khalda Petroleum Company Surface Facilities Engineering Manager
Siew Kheong (SK) joined Apache Corporation and its Egyptian joint venture Khalda Petroleum Company (KPC) seven years ago and loves working and living in Egypt. In his dual role, he is responsible for the performance of gas processing plants and pipelines while leading engagement with the management of external operators of shared facilities. He is also responsible for the engineering support and surface facilities projects in KPC’s operations.
When discussing his career, he said “I have spent 38 years in the oil industry – from Kuala Lumpur to Terengganu, Malaysia then to Texas in 2003, to Alaska in 2007 and to Nigeria in 2013.
You get to see the world, it’s humbling and very enriching. I’ve taken my family along for each assignment, and it’s amazing what each place had to offer.”
Originally from Chinatown in Kuala Lumpur, he shared that his favorite tradition is traveling back for Chinese New Year to gather with grand aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces. “It’s a big, noisy and crowded party, and it’s saved in our family calendar,” SK added. He is a father of two daughters and one son and describes his family as fun-loving, hardworking, life-loving global people. He is passionate about his family, helping others and living life to its fullest. When not working, SK’s hobbies include cycling with friends, golfing and playing tennis.
Jeni, Executive Assistant
Jeni began her career with Apache more than eight years ago as an administrative assistant and later was promoted to be an executive assistant. When asked about the company, she said, “There are many things I enjoy about working here, but if I had to pick one, it would definitely be my Apache family. I have made lifelong friends here. Combine that with loving what I do, and it’s definitely been my favorite company to work for.”
Jeni is an American-born Chinese raised in Houston, Texas. Her parents made many sacrifices to give her and her two older siblings the opportunity to grow up in the U.S., and she says she attributes her success to their hard work and efforts. Her family loves food and she grew up cooking and sharing special meals with family and friends. She has carried that love of food and cooking with her and now enjoys making sushi and trying new recipes like pork carnitas with her husband. Jeni loves to travel, especially on Disney-related trips and going on adventures with the family dog, Astro.
